December 26, 2025: In a terrifying morning for residents of Andheri West, a massive fire broke out today, Thursday, December 25, 2025, at the Sorrento Tower on Veera Desai Road. Among those caught in the life-threatening ordeal was noted Bollywood filmmaker Sandeep Singh, known for producing the biopic Mary Kom.

The producer, who resides in the high-rise, managed to escape the smoke-filled building thanks to the timely intervention and support of his close friends, actors Ankita Lokhande and Vicky Jain.

Panic at Sorrento Tower

The blaze reportedly started around 10:15 AM on the 14th floor of the 23-storey residential building. While the fire was confined to one floor, thick black smoke quickly billowed through the hallways and ventilation ducts, trapping dozens of residents on the upper floors.

Sandeep Singh, who was inside his apartment at the time, found himself in a precarious situation as the smoke began to log the corridors, making visibility near zero. Speaking to the press shortly after the incident, Singh expressed his shock but credited his “family-like friends” for helping him navigate the chaos.

The Rescue: Friends to the Rescue

Ankita Lokhande and Vicky Jain, who share a deep bond with Singh, were reportedly in constant communication with him as the fire broke out. Upon learning of the danger, the couple—who live nearby—rushed toward the area to provide support.

While the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) carried out the physical rescue of about 40 residents through the internal staircase and refuge areas, Ankita and Vicky were on the ground ensuring Singh had a safe place to go and immediate medical attention for smoke inhalation.

“In moments of crisis, you realize who your true people are,” a source close to the producer stated. “Ankita and Vicky didn’t just call; they were there, making sure Sandeep was safe and helping him through the trauma of the morning.”

Current Status and Safety Updates

The Mumbai Fire Brigade arrived swiftly, declaring it a Level-I fire and successfully dousing the flames within two hours. Fortunately, no casualties or major injuries have been reported, though several residents were treated for minor breathing difficulties due to the dense smoke.

Key Highlights of the Incident:

  • Location: Sorrento Tower, Veera Desai Road, Andheri West.
  • Time: Fire reported at 10:05 AM; doused by 12:00 PM.
  • Rescue: 40 residents evacuated safely from the 16th-floor refuge area.
  • Cause: Preliminary reports suggest a possible short circuit, though a formal investigation is underway.

A Bond Strengthened by Crisis

This isn’t the first time this trio has shown solidarity. Earlier this year, Sandeep Singh was a pillar of support for the couple when Vicky Jain was hospitalized with a severe hand injury. Today, the roles were reversed as the Pavitra Rishta actress and her businessman husband stood by Singh during one of his most frightening experiences.
