The notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang has once again rattled the Indian political landscape, this time by allegedly issuing a chilling death threat against actor-turned-politician and BJP MP from Gorakhpur, Ravi Kishan Shukla. The threat, which also included a brazen political challenge, has prompted an immediate police investigation and raised serious concerns about the safety of high-profile public figures.
The threatening message was reportedly received on the mobile phone of Praveen Shastri, a close associate and astrologer of Ravi Kishan. The anonymous caller, who identified themselves as being from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, delivered a stark warning.
According to reports, the call included a direct and aggressive political challenge, with the caller stating: “This time, both Modi and Yogi will be gone. We will also take care of Ravi Kishan.”
Following the call, the recipient’s WhatsApp received a disturbing image. The picture reportedly showed the faces of Ravi Kishan and a local BJP MLA, Pradeep Shukla, superimposed with a red ‘X’ mark, a sinister implication of a hit being ordered. Adding to the gravity of the message, the profile picture of the WhatsApp number was allegedly an image of the incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi himself.
Prompt action was taken following the alarming incident. Praveen Shastri immediately filed a formal complaint at the Ramgarh Tal police station in Gorakhpur. The police have registered a case and swiftly transferred the investigation to their cyber and surveillance teams to trace the origins of the call and the messaging device used.
Police officials have confirmed that they are using technical surveillance to track the caller’s location and device, aiming for a swift arrest. The threat has also led to heightened security concerns for MP Ravi Kishan, especially given his active involvement as a star campaigner for the BJP, particularly in the run-up to various state elections.
This is not the first time the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has made headlines for threats against public figures and celebrities. The syndicate, which is run by the gangster Lawrence Bishnoi (currently imprisoned), is known to operate a massive network that extends across several Indian states and even internationally.
The latest threat against a sitting Member of Parliament, coupled with a direct challenge to the authority of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, signals a troubling escalation in the gang’s audacity and its attempts to exert influence over political figures. The incident underscores the urgent need for stringent security protocols for public representatives, especially those active in high-stakes political campaigning.
