Mowgli 2025: Sandeep Raj Clarifies Emotional Post Confirms New Release Date

New Delhi, December 10, 2025: In a rollercoaster week for the Telugu film industry, director Sandeep Raj has confirmed a new release date for his upcoming film, Mowgli 2025, starring Roshan Kanakala. The announcement follows a period of high drama, sparked by an emotional social media post from the director and subsequent criticism from some sections of the audience.

The Release Date Clash and Emotional Response

The shift in release dates was necessitated by the sudden announcement that Nandamuri Balakrishna’s highly anticipated film, Akhanda 2, would be arriving in theaters on December 12. Mowgli 2025 was originally set to release on the same day, forcing the makers of the smaller film to reconsider their plans to avoid a box office clash.

The pressure of the situation led director Sandeep Raj to share a heartfelt post on social media, expressing his deep disappointment. He wrote that his dream of seeing his name—”Directed by Sandeep Raj”—on the big screen was becoming “harder day by day,” even calling himself “bad luck” given that his National Award-winning debut film, Colour Photo, also faced a theatrical release hurdle and went straight to OTT.

Director Addresses Criticism

While his post was met with an outpouring of support from industry colleagues, including actor Sai Durgha Tej, a few critics accused the director of trying to garner “sympathy.” Sandeep Raj quickly responded to this criticism, clarifying the circumstances behind his emotional tweet.

He explained that his initial distress was caused by a call suggesting the film might be postponed to February or April of 2026. This drastic potential delay, not the one-day shift, was what prompted his immediate, heartbroken reaction.

“First of all let me clarify my dear brother I never wanted to cook any sympathy dramas over anyone. Yesterday morning we received a call that we are pushed to February or April in 2026 which made me emotional and tweet about my fate… I am not at all celebrating now, i really want support from everyone as much as possible and dont want to face heat from anyone. My respect towards Akhanda is immense and you can see that in interview. Requesting you to stop changing narratives of my words.”

The Final Date: One-Day Shift

Fortunately, the team at People Media Factory and the film’s distributors quickly reconsidered the extreme postponement. Recognizing the limited options due to the huge releases scheduled for Christmas and Sankranti, they settled on a much closer date.

The new, confirmed theatrical release date for Mowgli 2025 is December 13, 2025—a shift of only one day from the original plan. The US premieres are still set to go ahead as planned on December 11, 2025.
