Good news for fashion film enthusiasts! Production has officially commenced on “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” the highly anticipated sequel to the beloved 2006 hit. Fans will be thrilled to learn that a significant portion of the original, iconic cast is set to return, including Academy Award winners Meryl Streep as the formidable Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway as Andrea “Andy” Sachs, Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton, and Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling.

Disney’s 20th Century Studios confirmed the news with a teaser on their Instagram handle, featuring the distinctive red high heels synonymous with the original film, accompanied by the caption: “‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’. Now in production.” Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci re-shared the announcement, further igniting excitement among fans.

Adding to the esteemed ensemble, Oscar winner Kenneth Branagh is set to join the cast, reportedly portraying Miranda Priestly’s husband. The sequel is slated for a theatrical release on May 1, 2026.

While specific plot details are largely being kept under wraps, reports suggest that the storyline will delve into Miranda Priestly’s challenges in navigating the evolving landscape of the magazine industry amidst the decline of traditional print media. Emily Blunt’s character, Emily Charlton, is now a high-powered executive for a luxury group whose advertising dollars Miranda desperately needs, setting up a compelling dynamic between the former boss and assistant. How Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs, who famously left the fashion world at the end of the first film, will factor into the new narrative remains to be seen.

Director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, who were instrumental in the success of the original, are returning for the sequel, along with producer Karen Rosenfelt. The first “The Devil Wears Prada,” based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel, was a global box office success, grossing over $326 million worldwide and cementing its place as a cultural phenomenon. Its enduring popularity and critical acclaim, particularly for Streep’s performance, have made a sequel highly anticipated for years.
