In a world where casting rumors spread faster than official announcements, actor Vikrant Massey has taken a firm stand against recent reports linking him to Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming magnum opus, Ramayana.

The 12th Fail star, known for his grounded performances and candid personality, recently broke his silence on social media to address widespread speculation that he had been “replaced” in the star-studded mythological epic.

The Spark of Speculation

The rumors gained momentum following reports that actor and dancer Raghav Juyal had been cast as Meghanad (also known as Indrajit), the formidable eldest son of Ravana. Several entertainment portals suggested that the role was originally earmarked for Massey, but due to scheduling conflicts or creative differences, he was replaced by Juyal.

Massey, however, was quick to dismantle this narrative. Taking to his Instagram Stories, the actor expressed his disappointment with the lack of fact-checking in modern journalism.

“OK. To put things to rest, I was never a part of this movie. Am not, never was. Such irresponsible media coverage from ‘respectable’ media houses is kinda appalling,” Massey wrote in a now-deleted post.

A Graceful Exit from a Non-Existent Role

While Massey’s tone was undeniably sharp regarding the misinformation, he maintained his trademark professionalism by extending his support to the film’s cast and crew. He clarified that while he isn’t in the movie, he is looking forward to seeing the final product as a fan of the epic.

“Nonetheless, wishing everyone on Ramayana all the very best. Will surely buy a ticket and watch it in cinemas,” he added.

Interestingly, shortly after the post went viral, the actor deleted the story. While the reason for the deletion remains unknown, the message had already been received loud and clear: Vikrant Massey was never on the call sheet.

What We Know About Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana

Despite the casting confusion involving Massey, Nitesh Tiwari’s adaptation of the Ramayana remains one of the most anticipated projects in Indian cinema history. With a reported budget of nearly ₹4,000 crore ($500 million), the film is being mounted as a two-part global spectacle.

The first installment is slated for a Diwali 2026 release, with the sequel following in Diwali 2027. The film features music by legends A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, promising a sensory experience unlike anything seen before in Bollywood.

What’s Next for Vikrant Massey?

Though he won’t be seen on the battlefields of Lanka, Massey’s calendar is far from empty. The actor is set to make his debut as a producer with the upcoming OTT series Musafir Cafe. Additionally, fans can expect to see him in:

  • O’ Romeo: A special appearance in Vishal Bhardwaj’s next project starring Shahid Kapoor.
  • White: A biographical drama where he will portray the spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

By clearing the air, Massey has effectively shifted the spotlight back to his actual projects, leaving the mythological epic to its confirmed (and massive) ensemble.
