New Delhi, November 25, 2025: Ayodhya is witnessing another momentous and spiritually charged day as the symbolic flag hoisting, or ‘Dhwajarohan,’ ceremony is being held atop the magnificent Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. This significant event marks the formal completion of the temple’s main construction and is being viewed as the spiritual activation of the entire complex.
The ceremony is being led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in the holy city to participate in the ancient ritual. The event, which coincides with the auspicious Abhijit Muhurat—considered the most sacred time for Lord Ram’s birth—and the day of Vivah Panchami (Lord Ram and Sita’s wedding anniversary), has drawn thousands of devotees and prominent dignitaries.
The focus of the event is the hoisting of the sacred saffron flag, known as the ‘Dharma Dhwaja,’ on the temple’s main spire, or ‘Shikhar.’ The flag itself is a magnificent, right-angled triangular banner, measuring 10 feet high and 20 feet long.
The flag, rising to a height of 191 feet, is considered a public proclamation to the world that the long-awaited divine abode of Lord Ram is structurally complete and fully consecrated, welcoming devotees from all corners.
The Prime Minister’s visit included a series of significant rituals before the main event:
The ceremony also has a strong focus on inclusiveness, with the guest list for the ‘Dhwajarohan’ ceremony specifically including a large number of citizens from the middle and lower-middle class, along with workers who contributed to the construction.
The city has been completely transformed for the occasion, adorned with nearly 100 tons of flowers and under a massive security blanket to ensure the smooth conduct of the historic ceremony.
The flag hoisting is more than just a religious ceremony; it is seen as the culmination of centuries of devotion and struggle, officially marking the transition of the temple from a construction project to a fully activated spiritual centre. As the saffron flag flutters high above the newly constructed temple, it symbolically ushers in a new era of faith, cultural unity, and the ideals of ‘Ram Rajya‘ for the nation.
