New Delhi, December 10, 2025: A video clip allegedly showing the Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu dancing enthusiastically was circulated widely on social media platforms with the false claim that the minister was celebrating or enjoying himself while a severe operational crisis was gripping IndiGo Airlines. This narrative, suggesting a complete lack of concern for the stranded passengers, was quickly identified as misleading, as the footage was confirmed to be over four months old.
The widely circulated video captured the Minister performing a lively dance routine at a public event. It was maliciously paired with news reports detailing the massive flight cancellations and delays being experienced by IndiGo passengers, which were causing widespread chaos at airports across the country. The accompanying captions strongly implied that the dance was a recent act of insensitivity during a period of national travel frustration.
However, a quick investigation and reverse image search definitively debunked the claim. It was confirmed that the video was recorded on February 19, 2024, during an event related to the wedding of the Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol. The event, therefore, predates the major summer operational crisis faced by IndiGo by several months.

The incident was cited as a prime example of how digital misinformation is weaponized during periods of public discontent. The timing of the clip’s renewed circulation—during the peak of the IndiGo cancellations—was clearly orchestrated to provoke anger and suggest that the political leadership was indifferent to the suffering of the travelers.
The deliberate misrepresentation of the timeline was widely condemned by fact-checking organizations and responsible users. It was emphasized that the viral video was intentionally placed out of its original context purely to generate outrage and gain political leverage, rather than to provide factual information about the Minister’s current conduct.
The successful fact-checking of the video underscores the persistent threat posed by decontextualized content online. It was strongly advised that the public exercise extreme caution before accepting and sharing sensational clips, especially those that aim to discredit public figures or incite political tension.
The incident reaffirmed the necessity of media literacy and the verification of sources before participating in the spread of viral news. The focus was quickly shifted from the Minister’s dance to the underlying issue of the spreading of malicious, time-sensitive propaganda.
