New Delhi, January 9, 2026: A wave of intense public outrage has been ignited in Ghaziabad following the emergence of a sickening viral video from a local eatery. On January 8, 2026, footage began circulating on social media showing a worker at a restaurant identified as ‘A-One Chicken Point’ allegedly spitting on rotis before placing them in a tandoor. The video, which was recorded by a vigilant customer at the Vardhmanpuram outlet, quickly reached senior police officials, prompting an immediate and stern response from the district administration.
Following the widespread circulation of the clip, the Madhuban Bapudham Police launched a preliminary investigation to verify the location and identity of the individual. It was confirmed by Suryabali Maurya, ACP Kavinagar, that the allegations appeared prima facie true after a review of the digital evidence. The accused worker, identified as Javed Ansari, a resident of Muradnagar, was promptly traced and taken into custody. A formal case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for acts likely to spread dangerous infections and for hurting religious sentiments.

This incident is the latest in a series of similar “spitting” controversies that have plagued the National Capital Region (NCR) over the past year. It was noted by local residents that such recurring acts of food contamination have severely damaged public trust in roadside eateries and local dhabas. The viral nature of these videos has often led to communal tensions, with many calling for the mandatory installation of CCTV cameras in all restaurant kitchens to ensure that food preparation is visible to the public and adheres to basic hygiene standards.
In light of several such incidents across Uttar Pradesh, the state government has recently proposed stringent new ordinances to penalize the contamination of food with human waste. It was emphasized by legal experts that under the proposed laws, individuals caught spitting or mixing urine in food could face imprisonment of up to 10 years. The Food Safety and Drugs Department in Ghaziabad has also stepped up its monitoring, collecting samples from the ‘A-One Chicken Point’ and issuing warnings to other vendors that any compromise on public health will result in the permanent cancellation of their operating licenses.
As of January 9, 2026, Javed Ansari remains in judicial custody while further legal proceedings are underway. The incident has served as a wake-up call for both consumers and authorities to prioritize food security over convenience. It has been suggested by safety advocates that customers should remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to the police immediately. For the residents of Ghaziabad, the viral video is a grim reminder that hygiene is not just a preference but a fundamental right that must be protected through strict enforcement and community awareness.
