New Delhi, December 22, 2025: In a striking incident highlighting the ongoing craze for social media fame, a former woman councillor in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi district has found herself in legal trouble. A video showing her performing stunts and dancing to a Bhojpuri song right outside a police station has gone viral, prompting swift intervention from the local authorities.
The viral reel features the woman, identified as Kiran, a former councillor (Sabhasad) from the Shahabad Nagar Palika. In the footage, she is seen sitting boldly on the bonnet of a moving white Scorpio as it passes through the busy market area of Shahabad.
The most controversial part of the video shows her dancing to a loud Bhojpuri track directly in front of the Shahabad Kotwali (Police Station). Despite the presence of moving traffic and pedestrians, the former official continued her performance, seemingly unfazed by the potential safety hazards or the proximity of law enforcement.
Kiran is a well-known local figure in Shahabad. Having previously served as a councillor for the Khera ward, she contested the local body elections again recently but was unsuccessful. Local residents noted that the stunt appeared to be an attempt to maintain social media relevance following her electoral loss.
As soon as the video began circulating on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, it drew heavy criticism from the public for “flaunting” rules in front of the police. Taking note of the digital evidence, the Hardoi Police initiated a probe.
This incident is part of a growing trend in Uttar Pradesh where individuals, including public figures, risk their safety and legal standing for viral content. Recently, the UP Police has intensified its “Operation Reel,” imposing heavy fines and even making arrests in cases where social media filming obstructs public order or violates the Motor Vehicles Act.
