New Delhi, December 12, 2025: A video clip purporting to show author and philanthropist Sudha Murty enthusiastically endorsing a dubious financial investment platform has achieved massive viral success across social media, leading to immediate public alarm. Fact-checking analyses and investigations have confirmed that the video is a deepfake, a fabricated piece of media created using original footage of Mrs. Murty and manipulating it with Artificial Intelligence-generated audio. The clip is an attempt to use her trusted public image to swindle unsuspecting people.

The Content Is Falsely Attributed

The widely circulated video features visuals of Sudha Murty, founder of the Infosys Foundation, seemingly giving an interview or speaking at a public event. During the footage, a female voice, which is synthesized to imitate Mrs. Murty’s speech pattern, is heard making a forceful case for a supposed financial platform. The fraudulent voice guarantees high monthly returns on a relatively small initial investment, often citing specific figures like ₹21,000 to yield several lakhs in a short period.

Promising titles and graphics are often overlaid onto the video, attempting to create a sense of urgency or exclusivity, and sometimes even falsely claiming that the government is trying to conceal the lucrative opportunity from citizens.

AI Manipulation Techniques Are Confirmed

Expert analysis conducted by deepfake detection units and cybersecurity firms confirmed the video’s inauthenticity. The original video footage featuring Mrs. Murty was traced to an interview given to a legitimate business news channel, where no mention of any financial platform or investment scheme was made.

The Scam Warning Is Issued

The fraudulent videos are widely recognized as part of a larger, coordinated cyber-enabled financial scam campaign that routinely misuses the images of prominent public figures, including political leaders and corporate founders, to promote dubious trading apps and investment schemes. The ultimate purpose of these deepfake endorsements is to swindle people out of their savings by luring them with false promises of massive, risk-free returns.

The public has been repeatedly cautioned by authorities and technology experts to remain vigilant and never trust investment solicitations found on social media that use the unauthorized likeness of celebrities. Before any funds are invested, independent verification of the platform’s credentials with official financial regulators is strongly advised.
