New Delhi, February 10, 2026: In a shocking incident that has sent ripples of fear through the local community, a 45-year-old woman lost her life on Monday morning following a daylight robbery near Nelamangala, on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The victim, identified as Jyothi, a resident of Huskur village, was allegedly targeted by bike-borne miscreants while she was performing her morning chores.

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Madanayakanahalli police station and has highlighted the growing audacity of street criminals in the region.

The Incident: A Fatal Confrontation

According to police sources and eyewitness accounts, the tragedy unfolded around 5:30 AM. Jyothi was sweeping the front yard of her house, a routine part of her morning, when two unidentified men on a motorcycle approached her.

Reports suggest a chilling method used by the attackers:

  • The Attack: The miscreants reportedly sprayed an unknown chemical substance on Jyothi’s face to incapacitate her.
  • The Robbery: As she collapsed or struggled to breathe, the men forcibly snatched her gold “Mangalsutra” (wedding chain), estimated to weigh approximately 70 grams.
  • The Aftermath: The duo sped away from the spot immediately. Jyothi was found unconscious by her husband, Manjunath, and neighbors who rushed to her aid.

She was immediately transported to a private hospital in Nelamangala, but doctors declared her brought dead.

Police Investigation and Medical Scrutiny

The Madanayakanahalli police have registered a case and are investigating the matter from multiple angles. While the family and locals suspect the chemical spray or the shock of the attack caused her death, the police are maintaining a cautious stance until the medical reports are finalized.

“We are investigating whether the death was caused by the chemical spray, the physical struggle, or a sudden cardiac arrest triggered by the shock of the incident,” stated a senior police official.

Current Investigative Steps:

  1. Post-Mortem: The victim’s body has been shifted to Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru for a detailed autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
  2. CCTV Analysis: Teams are scanning surveillance footage from cameras installed on the main roads and entry-exit points of Huskur village to identify the motorcycle and the suspects.
  3. Local Intelligence: Police are questioning known offenders and tracking mobile tower data from the time of the incident.

Growing Safety Concerns

The death of a woman during a routine morning activity has sparked outrage and panic among residents of Nelamangala and surrounding areas. Locals have expressed concerns over the lack of early morning patrolling, noting that such “spray-and-snatch” tactics are becoming a terrifying new trend for habitual offenders.

Jyothi is survived by her husband and two children. The community is now demanding swift justice and increased police presence to prevent such daylight horrors.
