New Delhi, December 12, 2025: A terrifying viral video documenting the moment a woman was forced to lock herself inside a train washroom as a large mob of unauthorized male passengers stormed her reserved coach has ignited massive public concern over railway safety. The harrowing incident, which took place on the Jaynagar-Manihari Janki Express train in Bihar, was only resolved after the Railway Protection Force (RPF) rapidly intervened following a distressed SOS call.

Reserved Coach Is Overrun

The widely circulated footage captured the chaotic scene on the reserved sleeper coach (Train No. 15284) as it was stopped at Katihar Junction in Bihar. The incident unfolded when a group of approximately 30 to 40 unauthorized male passengers allegedly forced their way into the reserved compartment. The woman, who possessed a confirmed reservation and was seated in her allotted berth, was immediately confronted by the sudden, overwhelming surge of people.

Feeling profoundly unsafe and wishing to avoid any confrontation, the woman swiftly left her seat and locked herself inside the nearest toilet, where she remained trapped by the surrounding crowd. The RPF inspector, Rakesh Kumar, confirmed that the woman sent a desperate SOS message to the railway helpline while barricaded inside the washroom.

RPF Intervention Ensures Safe Evacuation

The emergency alert was passed on immediately to the RPF team stationed at Katihar Junction. A team was observed rushing to the train and making their way through the packed, illegally occupied coach. The RPF personnel successfully cleared the unauthorized passengers from the reserved compartment, ensuring the illegal occupants were removed from the train.

Following the clearance operation, the terrified woman was safely escorted out of the washroom and returned to her reserved berth. The RPF officer stressed the gravity of the situation, noting that the journey for a single woman should never become so critical.

Vigilance Is Intensified Post-Incident

The shocking viral video and the resulting emergency operation have underscored the persistent challenge of passenger safety, particularly for solo female travelers, and the issue of unauthorized boarding and overcrowding on Indian Railways. The incident has resulted in the RPF announcing that vigilance has been intensified on both railway platforms and aboard trains to prevent similar chaotic and dangerous situations from occurring again.

The quick, effective action taken by the RPF in response to the digital SOS message was widely praised by the public and officials, demonstrating the critical role technology and the RPF play in ensuring passenger security and safety.
