
New Delhi, October 31, 2025: A shocking incident in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was brought to public light after a video documenting a heated confrontation went viral across social media platforms. The video was recorded by onlookers as a woman was seen forcefully dragging a police constable by his uniform collar in a public area. The constable, who was wearing his official police uniform, was accused of inappropriate conduct and molestation by the woman.
Serious allegations were levelled against the police official. It was claimed by the woman that the constable had engaged in inappropriate behaviour, including making lewd gestures and demanding her phone number. When challenged, attempts were reportedly made by the accused to hide his identity, with his nameplate being removed and placed in his pocket. These actions were cited as further evidence of his guilt by the enraged woman. Due to the policeman’s alleged misconduct, the woman was driven to take immediate and public action.

Following the public uproar caused by the viral footage, swift action was taken by police authorities. The accused constable was immediately suspended from his duties. This decision was reached after an initial investigation was conducted, during which the allegations were prima facie found to be true. Furthermore, a formal complaint was filed against the constable, and a case was registered under relevant sections of the law related to molestation and obscenity. A departmental inquiry was also ordered against the accused.
The severity of the incident was acknowledged by senior police officials. A statement was issued by the Police Commissioner, in which it was clearly asserted that the misuse of the uniform for harassing any woman would not be tolerated. Emphasis was placed on maintaining the integrity of the police force and ensuring the safety of all citizens. The public’s confidence in the police force is hoped to be restored through such stringent and prompt action against delinquent personnel. The incident has once again fuelled a national discussion about accountability and gender sensitivity within law enforcement agencies.
