New Delhi, December 23, 2025: A formal criminal case has been registered by the Delhi Police against a commercial pilot following a violent altercation at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. The incident, which took place in December 2025, was brought to public attention after a viral video emerged showing a physical confrontation between the pilot and a passenger. According to medical reports and statements provided to the authorities, the victim sustained a nasal fracture during the assault. The pilot has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
The confrontation reportedly occurred near a boarding gate during a period of significant flight delays caused by heavy fog in the national capital. In the widely circulated 45-second clip, a heated verbal exchange is observed escalating into physical violence within seconds.

Following the incident, the passenger was immediately escorted to a medical facility within the airport premises. A detailed forensic examination was conducted, which confirmed that the impact of the blow resulted in a fractured nasal bone and soft tissue trauma.
The incident has reignited a national debate regarding the rising tensions at airports during the winter season. It was noted by aviation experts that while passenger frustration is high during delays, the resort to violence by a trained professional is “inexcusable.” As the investigation continues in late December 2025, the pilot remains under police investigation. The case serves as a grim reminder that even in high-stress environments, the law must be upheld by those in positions of responsibility.
