0

Holi, the festival of colours, is celebrated with great zeal in different and unique ways all over the country. Last two years, the celebrations had to be toned down due to the pandemic. But in 2022, Holi enthusiasts want to make up for a lost time by enjoying the occasion thoroughly.

Ā In Braj, Nandgaon, Vrindavan and Barsana, the celebration begins a month ahead of Holi and continues for a few days afterwards. Though the popular Lathmar Holi, Ladoo Mar Holi and Phoolo Ki Holi have already been played on Ekadashi and days before, one can experience the dynamic and colourful Holi at Vrindavan on the day itself.

Ā To soak in the traditional Holi festivities, Himachal Pradesh is another option. In the Kinnaur district, the Holi celebration in the quaint village of Sangla is very famous. The festival, known as the Faugli festival, is celebrated to worship the local deities. There is a riot of colours, and people dance to traditional folk music, perform skits and have special wine called phasur.

Ā Punjab celebrates the festival with lots of thrill. Local peoples call it ‘Hola Mohalla’, which is celebrated a day after Holi. Travellers also have an opportunity to experience their special martial arts, including chakkar spinning, horsemanship, swordsmanship, tent pegging, and other war-like sports. Halwas, puris, gujias, raw jackfruit and malpuas are an essential part of the festival. Kirtans and poetry competitions are also held.

Ā In the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, Palampur organises a four-day Holi fest every year. It’s a state-level fair that lasts up to a week. The festival starts at Kali Mata Mandir. Various dance performances are organised. The town also arranges Shobha Yatra which requires walking around the town with festivities, followed by a wrestling competition. There is a unique dog show, for which people train their pets around the year. The celebration is incomplete without piping hot jalebis and pakoras.

Ā Hampi in Karnataka, too, attracts a lot of millennial and foreign travellers for Holi. Locals welcome the spring season with drums and dances. Holi is celebrated on the banks of the Tungabhadra river.

Ā The Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain turns into a foray of colours on Holi. Thandai and purukiyas are local delicacies from the place one shouldn’t miss. Lakhs of devotees visit the temple for the festivities.

Long time use of painkillers may affect your kidneys

0

On the day of World Kidney Day, doctors of Artemis Hospital located in Gurugram have raised an alarm about the long-term use of pain killers. These medicines are leading to kidney damage among people. World Kidney Day is a global campaign. Annually the program is held on 10th March. It is intended at raising awareness about the importance of our kidneys.

Many painkillers are sold without a prescription for lessening pain and inflammation. These include Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, diclofenac and naproxen. A combination of drugs, including aspirin, acetaminophen and caffeine, are also easily available and commonly taken by patients for chronic headaches and backaches nowadays.

Ā Dr. Manju Aggarwal, Chief – Medical Services & Chairperson – Nephrology at Artemis Hospital, Gurugram said, “Not many people realise it, but long-term use of analgesics (painkillers) can lead to a condition called analgesic neuropathy which causes kidney damage. Painkillers don’t harm the kidneys in healthy individuals if taken occasionally. However, taking them too often for a prolonged period, especially as a combination of drugs, can cause severe kidney damage.”

Ā Aggarwal added that for individuals such as the elder person, diabetics and patients of high blood pressure, the threat is even greater in high-risk. Their kidneys can get damaged with even occasional use of painkillers, she noted.

Ā Painkillers lead to kidney damage in many ways, including an acute rise in creatinine levels, known as Acute Kidney Injury. There can also be worsening of pre-existing Chronic Kidney Disease in terms of rising creatinine levels. Painkillers can also cause a rise in potassium levels in the body. Most patients remain asymptomatic in the early stages of kidney disease and the raised creatinine is an incidental finding.

Ā However, in advanced forms of the disease, there can be breathlessness, vomiting, loss of appetite and swelling all over the body. The doctor said that prevention is always better than cure, so judicious use of painkillers is advised. These should be taken if necessary.

Ā “Patients with known kidney disease or those at risk of kidney disease such as the elderly and diabetics should avoid pain killers. They should instead switch to paracetamol or opioids for pain control,” Aggarwal advised. “If you are taking painkillers regularly and find that your creatinine level is raised, discontinue their use and see a nephrologist immediately,” she told.

Ravindra Jadeja was world Best All-rounder after Mohali Test

Ravindra Jadeja was world Best All-rounder after Mohali Test. From 2012 to 2022 in 58 matches in 85 innings he scored 2370 runs with 2 century and 17 fifties and scored highest score of 175 against Sri Lanka on Day 2 of Mohali Test.

Moreover, Ravindra Jadeja became the second Indian cricketer after legendary Sobers to achieve this massive score in the first innings of test cricket.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja also broke former legendary Indian Kapil Dev’s 1986 record for scoring the most runs in a Test innings at No.7.

Therefore in an interview with Crickbuzz Dinesh Karthik said “For me, Jadeja’s been the most improved cricketer in the world since the 2019 World Cup. He’s gone a notch above… I think he was a bit hurt at the start when he didn’t play but his career has completely taken a different tangent. It’s like rocket fuel has been added on to him. He’s taken off to a different planet altogether, not only in white-ball formats but also in Test cricket,” Further he also added You can see responsibilities being given to him. I do feel that he will bat much higher for CSK this season because he’s showing the potential of being a pure batter. We can see how he batted against Sri Lanka… proper cricketing shots and no slogging. He was playing on merit and not over-hitting the ball. I thoroughly enjoyed the knock.”

“His bowling has been steady throughout the career but it’s his batting that has picked up to another level. He has the capability to come on and take down an attack at any point in time. He won a few games single-handedly for CSK last year with the bat and we are going to see more of that. He’s one of the all-rounders India cannot do without him when they board the flight to Australia,”

After registering 175 runs he was going to take a 10 wicket haul but he gave up because his teammate Jayant Yadav wants to bowl under his belt so gave up his over and Jayant bowl on the other end.

According to Rohit Sharma, he said he is the top all-rounder of all time and Rohit is very much confident to give him more opportunities.

Meanwhile, Harsha Bhogle said Delighted to be able to see Jadeja play like that. With bat and ball. Now, rightfully, among the top all-rounders in the game across eras.”

Therefore way back in 2008 Australian legend, Shane Warne who died recently due to a heart attack said To Jadeja was Rockstar.
